What are blackheads?

Blackheads are small black dots that appear on your skin.

What causes blackheads?

Blackheads form when pores clogged with oil do not close up. When exposed to air, the blocked pore turns black, creating the tiny black dots you see on your skin.

Blackhead treatment: To squeeze or not to squeeze

It’s tempting, but resist the urge! Squeezing out blackheads might actually make them worse, because your hands carry more bacteria and oil that can clog pores.

How to prevent blackheads

By helping to keep pores clear of oil and skin cell build-up. Use oil-free skin care and beauty products that contain a blackhead-fighting medicine. We recommend the CLEAN & CLEAR® BLACKHEAD ERASER® Scrub to help unclog pores. You should also use the CLEAN & CLEAR®Blackhead Clearing Astringent 2x per week to draw out impurities from deep in your pores and prevent new blackheads from forming.
